Franz PÖTTINGER was born in Neukirchen an der Enknach in Upper Austria in 1907. He worked for the telegraph construction office in Salzburg and was arrested in 1941 for political resistance (purportedly for listening to allied radio broadcasts). He was sentenced to death in 1942 for »preparing to commit treason« and on April 19, 1943 he was executed in the Stadelheim prison in Munich, where the members of the White Rose organization were also executed.
