Johann HASLAUER was a Jehovah’s Witness who was arrested on November 9, 1939 for refusing military service. He was deported to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and murdered there on August 12, 1940.
His wife, Marie HASLAUER, was also a Jehovah’s Witness and was arrested the day after her husband on 10 November 1939. She was deported to the Ravensbrueck concentration camp but was later transferred to the Auschwitz death camp where she was murdered on September 27, 1942.
Marie HASLAUER’s 17 year old daughter, Antonia Mackinger, had been born on May 16, 1922 in Berndorf. She too was a Jehova’s Witness and on December 28, 1939 she too was arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. She survived the liberation and returned to Salzburg.
