Rachel ROSENMANN was born in Budzanow, Galicia (then in Austria-Hungary, now in Ukraine) in 1873.
She was a widowed Jewish mother of four children whose husband had died in Vienna in 1921. She came to live with her daughter Josephine in the home of the Jewish family BONDY at 20 Neutorstrasse in September 1937.
Rachel ROSENMANN was expelled to Vienna on February 7, 1940, and on October 15, 1941 she was deported to Lodz, where she was murdered. Mrs. ROSENMANN’s daughter, Josephine stayed in Salzburg with her non-Jewish husband and her daughter Renate who had been born in 1935.
They survived their persecution by the Nazi regime and were liberated in 1945.
